Ex 5 - Vocal Cry
Instruction
This exercise uses a vocal cry sound on a couplet pattern that swings up and down to warm up your voice.
The unfinished, edge sound requires very little air and vocal cord action to work, so it allows you to release excess tension in the extrinsic muscles under the tongue, and in the throat, and jaw.
The cry sound, along with the light glottal skips, activates the very thinnest edges of your vocal chords, helping you to maintain a connected tone. This also allows your voice to relax and to transition smoothly as you pass from one vocal register to the next.
